27-year-old Eutychus Mutuma of Nairobi has been missing for the last two months, leaving his friends and family in disbelief due to the mysterious circumstances surrounding his abduction.

Mutuma’s sister Annabel Muthoni claims that her brother was last seen on September 10, 2023.

That day, Mutuma did not come home, and when he called his phone repeatedly and got no response, worries increased. It took the family in Meru four days to realize he was missing.

When Nairobi News visited Mutuma’s place of employment, coworkers and clients alike showed grave concern about his whereabouts. Mutuma was described as a quiet, kind person who avoided conflict and spent several years working as a wine and spirits attendant in Nairobi, close to the Koja bus stage.

James Mwangagi, one of Mutuma’s customers, reminisced about his friendly demeanor, stating, “He was very friendly, he never argues with anyone and most of the time he is silent. Unless when he was engaging a customer.”

According to Brian, a coworker in the alcohol sales industry, Mutuma left work on that fatal day as normal and went home.

He hasn’t been seen for three months now.

Muthoni says a neighbor employed his brother as a wines and spirit shop attendant in Nairobi near Koja bus stage for several years.

“We had several plans with my brother hence we would talk on phone often. I called him severally but his phone was off. After four days of calling, we got concerned and reached out to his employer who said that Mutuma had not reported to work for several days.”According to Muthoni, his brother worked for several years as a wine and spirit shop attendant in Nairobi, next to the Koja bus stage, for a neighbor.

“His colleague said he had last seen him on September 10. We were shocked that none of them bothered to look for him for three days he was missing,” Ms Muthoni recounted.

Muthoni clarified that on September 15, her brother’s employer filed a missing person’s report, citing OB number 90/15/9/2023. The complaint was then forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to police phone monitoring data, Mutuma turned off his phone when he got close to his place of employment.

The family was advised that the cameras were not in operation, even though they attempted to collect CCTV footage from the site where the phone exploded.

The coworker of Mutuma, who was living in Roysambu, has moved away, taking his possessions with him.

The family is pleading with the authorities to hurry their investigations into the intriguing case and find out where their relations are, as it has been more than 70 days since Mutuma vanished.

They are still baffled because Mutuma appeared fine and unproblematic before to his unexpected vanishing act.
